Great job! Now instead of being funded by terrorists (Gaddafi et al), the LSE can return the favour.

"ignore the grumpy racist americans"

Let's get this straight right now. I have no problems with Arabs as a whole. I have no problems with Muslims as a whole. I have no problems with Christians as a whole. But I have problems with all those that condone, support, and carry out terrorism. And that's all this is about. It's not even about supporting Israel, per se, as it is about NOT supporting a known sponsor and abettor of terrorism.

"So people opposed to the motion complained that this was a political gesture and not aimed at actually helping Gazan students, when we do raise money to help Palestinian students, we’re still wrong? Cant win with some people I guess."

My only question here is over the destination of whatever money's been raised. Did it go directly to students? To a student union? To the administration? If it's the latter, then yeah, we're directly funding terrorism.

"lets just remember that the decision to twin with the IUG was made DEMOCRATICALLY at the Union General Meeting – where students from all backgrounds attended."

And if by democratically you mean a 20-vote margin out of the 286 present, out of the NINE THOUSAND students who attend this institution... who am I to question your definition of democracy? (for the record, such a 'majority' is 1.7%)

Alex,

I must be funded by the Israeli state because I disagree with you. Since you're the talking-point regurgitating hack, you're the sheep not me.

Wowzers,

You're right, you can't win politically supporting or raising money for Hamas institutions; that is exactly the point- spend five minutes reading a competent strategic analysis of the standoff between Hamas and Israel to understand why efforts to pay or prop-up Hamas instigates violence.

Dear Jon,

I must be experiencing culture shock since I am only from the most ethnically and linguistically diverse city on the planet. Don't know which city that is? I'll give you a hint, its not London and its not in a country that is +90 white (like Great Britain is).

The extreme irony of making such a fuss in London to raise pitiful amounts of money while rich Arabs piss away billions on British weapons should matter to you if you care more about liberal values than your pretensions of racial sensitivity and political correctness. There are people in the world called "Arabs" and its not racist to mention them or their countries by name, sorry friend.

The entire university was not "pissed off". In fact I detected broad support for it, and lets just remember that the decision to twin with the IUG was made DEMOCRATICALLY at the Union General Meeting - where students from all backgrounds attended. Well done and ignore the Israeli-state funded sheeps.
